Chicken Tikka Masala recipe
Here's a recipe for Chicken Tikka Masala:
Ingredients:
For Chicken Marinade:
- 500g boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup yogurt
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
For Tikka Masala Sauce:
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes
- Salt to taste
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions:
1. In a bowl, mix all the marinade ingredients and coat the chicken pieces. Let it marinate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
2. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Thread the marinated chicken onto skewers and place them on a baking tray. Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until the chicken is cooked and slightly charred.
3. In a separate pan, heat oil for the sauce. Add chopped onions and cook until they become golden brown.
4. Add ginger-garlic paste and cook for 1-2 minutes until the raw smell disappears.
5. Stir in ground cumin, ground coriander, turmeric, and chili powder. Cook the spices for a couple of minutes.
6. Add crushed tomatoes and salt. Simmer the sauce for about 10-15 minutes until it thickens.
7. Pour in the heavy cream and mix well. Add the baked chicken pieces to the sauce and simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
8. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
9. Serve Chicken Tikka Masala hot with rice or naan.
