Besan halwa recipe
here's a simple recipe for Besan Halwa:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup besan (gram flour)
- 1/2 cup ghee (clarified butter)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
- Chopped nuts (almonds, cashews, pistachios) for garnish
- A pinch of saffron strands (optional)
Instructions:
1. Heat the ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan on low-medium heat.
2. Add the besan and roast it continuously while stirring. Keep roasting until it turns golden brown and you can smell a nutty aroma. This may take around 10-15 minutes. Be careful not to burn it.
3. In another pan, combine the sugar and water and make a sugar syrup. Stir until the sugar completely dissolves. You can also add saffron strands to the syrup for flavor and color.
4. Once the besan is roasted, carefully pour the sugar syrup into it. Be cautious, as it may splatter.
5. Stir well to combine the besan and sugar syrup. Continue cooking on low heat.
6. Keep stirring continuously to avoid lumps and cook until the mixture thickens and starts leaving the sides of the pan.
7. Add cardamom powder for flavor and mix well.
8. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
9. Garnish with chopped nuts.
10. Serve warm and enjoy your Besan Halwa!
Remember to adjust the sugar quantity to your taste preference. Enjoy your homemade Besan Halwa!
