punjabi chicken curry recipe

a simple Punjabi chicken curry recipe:
Ingredients:

- 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 1/2 cup cream (optional)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions:

1. Heat oil in a large pan or pot. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.

2. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.

3. Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a couple of minutes until the raw smell disappears.

4. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and the oil starts to separate.

5. Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Sauté the spices for a few minutes until they are well incorporated.

6. Add the chicken pieces and cook for about 5-7 minutes until they turn white on the outside.

7. Stir in the yogurt and cook for another 5 minutes, allowing the chicken to absorb the flavors.

8. If you want a creamier curry, add cream at this stage and stir well.

9. Cover the pot and simmer for about 20-25 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and the gravy thickens.

10. Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.

Serve your Punjabi chicken curry with rice or naan bread. Enjoy your meal!
